To all electronic, robotic or PIC micro controller geeks out there, if you are reading this, I need a favor from you.
I realized that there are many community and forum out there that discuss on D.I.Y. electronic and embedded system projects. Yet, some students and hobbyists still find it quite hard to get what they want to be done, or maybe something that can really satisfy their needs.
If you are one of them, here’s a favor I need from you. If there is such a blog or forum out there doing discussion on such topics, I mean topics on any projects involving PIC micro controller, what would you expect from it? I mean how would you like a blog like that to exist in order to help you in whatever PIC micro controller projects you are working on, be it for competition, for final year project, for fun, or for whatever reason you want it to be.
For those who are interested, kindly let me know how you think bout this idea by posting it in my comment box.
Time flies, and once again Robocon 2010 is here! This year, Malaysia Robocon domestic competition will be held at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia from 22nd to 27th June 2010. The theme is “Robo-Pharaohs Build Pyramids“, in conjunction with the myth and history of the international game hosting country, Egypt.
For those of you who have no idea what’s Robocon, it’s an annual robotic competition where teams from different institutes of higher learning construct robots to complete certain tasks, and the team who manage to complete the tasks in the shortest time and scores the highest point wins the game.
This year, there will be 55 teams competing in Malaysia Domestic Game. The champion team will be representing Malaysia to the international game at Egypt.
Went back to UTM last weekend to watch the combat between juniors in the final round of Beacon Conqueror 2009.

The objective of the game was to conquer any of the 3 victory beacons to achieve victory before the opponent. This game required good strategy planning and coorperation between the team members.
Ready and take off
Mini robots rumbling around the battlefield
Scoring center beacon
Robots clashing
Gripper loosen, scoring failed
Victory! Better still, scoring all 4 victory beacons!
After 20 rounds of battles, the game ended with Team 4 emerged as the champion. The winner is entitled for 2 movie tickets of Transformer: Revenge of the Fallen, popcorn and drinks plus couple seats (ouch…that’s gay… haha =P).
BBQ after the competition
The game went well and all the members were performing well. Our journey is still long ahead, full of obstacles. Nevertheless, we’ll try our very best to strive for the best.
This is the final year I’m joining the team. 2 years of participation has given me the opportunity to learn and having so much fun. It’s been the major part of my university life, knowing new friends and learn to be better in my field of study. Not to forget the countless sleepless nights we have endured together in the lab, rushing to complete our tasks, learning from seniors and teaching juniors, breaking the rules, copying homework in the lab together, getting injured, birthday celebrations, members “shooting” each other in the lab (in a joking way of course), sleeping during lectures, the disappointment of seeing our robots fail and the excitement of watching our robots running.
Though these 2 years we failed to regain our title, I am and will never regret of being part of the team. The memories will remain in my mind forever…
